One of the more controversial areas of study of the media is what effect the media have on us.
 
 
 Evidence of Media’s Role in Promoting Violence:
 
1.Violence tears across the media through many types of programs, from music videos and entertainment shows to reality programming and news.
2.By the time average American child graduates from Elementary school, he would have seen over 8000 murders and about 100,000 other acts of violence.
3-Psychological societies asserted that media violence can cause viewers to act aggressively.
4-Moreover they asserted that media violence can contribute to other outcomes: desensitization of viewers to violent actions and fear of being the victim of violence.
5-Strong evidence from survey research consistently shows that heavy viewers of violence are more likely to engage in aggressive behavior than light viewers.
6-Moreover viewers of violent media programs express more willingness to use violence to resolve real interpersonal conflicts.

7-Viewing violence may cultivate or shape positive attitudes towards violence and may activate other aggressive thoughts.
8-Viewing lots of violence leads people to ignore other factors in their everyday life that normally inhibit them from reacting violently.
9- People become afraid of the world, self protective, mistrusting others,  a psychological behavior known as: scary world syndrome.
